How to make this world a better place
November 3, 2026
In a recent podcast interview with Susan Drumm from the Enlightened Executive, I was asked about the difference I’m hoping to make in the world.
My answer?

I believe that who you truly are is what the world needs most. And if you’re being yourself, there would be so much less to fix in the world.
I think that through conditioning, expectations and all the ‘shoulds’ we get away from ourselves little by little and then we need to come home to ourselves at some point.
Unfortunately, it’s often something like a wake-up call that forces us to do that. Because we think we have more time before we get into trouble or endanger our health. That’s why it’s important to keep an eye on signals like things that are not in the flow or feeling off. Or when rest doesn’t solve the problem. You can find all seven warning signs in this article.
I’m hoping to help people get back to themselves before they need that dreaded wake-up call.
Taking better care of yourself
I truly believe this world would be a better place if we all knew how to take care of ourselves. We are often busy trying to fix others, but if we focused that energy and attention on ourselves—making sure we are healthy and sane and full of self-love—then there would be so much less to fix.
Many problems in the world stem from people who are unhappy or in pain, lashing out at the world and at other people in an attempt to feel better. A lot of problems arise from their distorted view of the world, of what it takes to give or feel love.
Problems we would not have to solve if we focused more energy and attention on taking care of ourselves so we don’t get derailed.
I’m not saying you can’t reach out for support; in fact, you should—it’s a sign of strength.
I’m not saying to be selfish and let other people be miserable.
I AM saying: learn to take good care of yourself, educate yourself about how to nourish your body, mind, and soul, how to engage in healthy relationships, and how to pursue a life that fulfills you and those around you.
If we all learn how to take care of ourselves first, we free up a lot of time and energy to do positive things rather than cleaning up other people’s messes.
By staying true to ourselves, we’ll end up with time and energy for growth, success, and love.
You’ll win back time
We often think we don’t have time for self-care or slowing down—or pausing long enough to wonder what we want and need. But what if you stopped giving your time and energy away when it’s not aligned? And stopped pushing through, making sure you rest enough and take regular breaks.
It’s a persistent delusion that when you keep pushing through, you’ll get more done. I get it because I’ve done the same thing many times. Thinking I’ll take a break after I do this one thing. But what we can’t see when we’re keeping all those plates spinning is that our productivity drops and as a result we get less done. Breaks will win you back time—as counterintuitive as it feels.
So stop focusing on other people and what they think and want. When you fill your own cup first, you’ll have so much more to give to others.
The world needs you
There’s a reason you are who you are, quirks included. The world needs that unique perspective you have. The talent or insight only you can bring. Stop hiding it away thinking it’s not good enough. Or waiting until you complete your to-do list. Or whatever is stopping you from fully being yourself and taking good care of you.
I believe that for every problem the solution already exists. We just don’t always see it. And we need all of us to find those much-needed answers—big and small. If you never allow yourself to be the true you, then we all miss out.
So perhaps start with this question: Do you know who you truly are? And are you showing that to the world?
These questions might not be easy to answer. And don’t worry if you have no idea, because you’re not the only one. But I think these questions are important to spend time on.
If you’d like support in staying true to yourself or coming home to who you truly are, my private mentoring might be for you.
