What do you need most?

March 24, 2015

questionDeep inside sometimes you can feel a knowing, a hint of something your mind cannot comprehend but that you know nonetheless. This is what I would call eternal wisdom or universal wisdom. A soul connection to something that transcends time and space.

As Shakespeare wrote:

“There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”

And that’s something that I believe is from all times. Especially now when so much goes on in the world around us. When painful and sad things happen on such a grand scale and where we learn news from other countries in just a matter of minutes.

We now have to deal with not only so much more information but so much more sadness as well. We see this not only in words but often accompanied by images on the news. I stopped to watch the news long ago, hearing about it is often bad enough, I don’t need the images to imprint it even further. The same may go for you. What do you spend your time and energy on and how much of that is truly positive and uplifting?

Nowadays it is both so much harder and so much easier to be balanced. Harder because the increasing turmoil on the planet can take you off course and the internet is full of sad stories. Easier because you have unlimited access to self-help tools and uplifting inspiration.

The question is what do you do with your time and how do you choose to use your energy. When you come home after work or even in the weekend. How do you choose to spend the time you have? Do you pick nourishing activities that feed your body, mind and soul? Or do you deplete yourself further by what you watch or read or do?

This is your choice and you are the only one who can answer this question honestly. But I believe most of us can choose wiser than they are currently doing. Most of us have much to gain from choosing with our heart and with love for ourselves. Less obligations and more long-term investments in our health and well-being. It doesn’t always show in the short-run but in the long-run we pay for depleting ourselves.

This is your invitation to choose wisely and take a moment to pause and ask yourself “What do I need? What does my body need?”

I recommend you to listen to the answer and take it seriously. I think your future self will thank you for that.
