How to supercharge your water
March 16, 2026
If you’ve been doing all the right things—drinking your 6-8 glasses of water— and still feel not properly hydrated, this article explains why that might be the case.
The first time I consciously remember becoming aware of the importance of water was when I read an article in a girl’s magazine. As a result, I started drinking more water. That was probably a few years after this picture was taken during a hike in the Swiss Alps. When drinking straight from a stream was still deemed safe. 😉
The next step in my water evolution was right after my burnout when I visited an Ayurvedic doctor to help me find balance in my body again. That’s when I started my morning water ritual that I described in the previous article (and will summarize in the PS here.)
Over the years, my water habits continued to evolve—and today I’m sharing my latest insights.
Last week I covered the basics of hydration and the negative impact not drinking enough water has on your health and productivity.
This week I’m going deeper with two important secrets to increase the vitality of your water. I’ve discovered these in the past year and they make a huge difference in how I feel.
Why just drinking water isn’t enough
Drinking enough water is crucial—and ensuring water quality is equally important. I’m fortunate with the quality of water in the Netherlands, but I still choose to filter it. I can taste the difference—it makes the water softer and removes traces of heavy metals.
But there is a third step that is often overlooked. Because it’s not enough to take out the toxins (like chlorine and other impurities) and leave it at that.
Even here in the Netherlands the vitality of the water leaves much to be desired.
The water here is clean but also largely dead.
Fortunately, there are two things you can do to bring it back to life.
Increasing the vitality of your water
“Water is life’s matter and matrix, mother and medium.
There is no life without water.” — Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, Nobel prize winner.
Two Dutch gentlemen discovered that truly vital water can only be found in a few places on earth—like in the Himalayas. Due to pollution and industrialization most other places no longer have the original quality of water that it used to have.
Most water is no longer structured.
And that’s a problem because structured water (aka coherent water) better supports your body to do what it needs. It’s a fairly technical story but here’s what it comes down to.
Italian physicist Emilio Del Giudice was one of the first scientists proposing the concept of a biologically-relevant state of water. As part of the general theory of quantum electrodynamics, he described the coherent state of water and emphasized its essential role in sending information through biological matter.
According to this theory:
“When water comes near biological surfaces, it will most likely enter a coherent state. This ordered configuration then allows it to serve as a medium for relaying relevant information between the cells, tissues and organs of our body.”
Pretty relevant for your health, I think. 😉
So I decided to try it out. I’ve been using the Analemma wand for about a year now and I can really feel the difference. But the skeptic in me wondered if I was imagining that difference. Until I noticed what it did for my plants!
A plant that I have had for more than fifteen years suddenly started growing much bigger leaves! The only difference is that I now regularly water it with coherent water. I found that astounding. So yes, I believe it works.
In fact, I love this product so much that I’ve recently become an affiliate—which means I earn a small commission if you purchase through my link, at no extra cost to you. And I got a coupon code so you can get 10% off any purchase. 😊

There is still much to be discovered about coherent water but their research demonstrated:
“From increased mitochondrial output, positive effects on the gut microbiome, a boost in anti-inflammatory activity of the human immune system and improved vitality of plants and soil, our scientific studies showcase the incredible benefits of coherent water for humans and their immediate environment.”
That’s the first secret. Here’s the second thing you should know about supercharging your water.
Remineralize your water
Proper hydration is more than drinking good quality water, as I think we’ve established by now. But after we’ve filtered and structured our water, there’s still one thing missing.
Because the treatment that makes our water drinkable doesn’t only remove many harmful substances, it strips our water of a lot of good (and essential) elements as well. And those need to be replaced.
That’s a tip I received from a client of mine, Karen Vago. She’s a genetic eating expert and author of 4 books. She taught me how to add those essential minerals back to our drinking water and gave me permission to share that with you. (Thank you, Karen!)
When you don’t feel hydrated—even when you drink lots of water—the water likely lacks minerals.
“When you consume minerals, you increase the capacity of the water you drink to hydrate you. The minerals help your cells absorb it better.
Minerals also give water its negative charge—making it conductive. A necessary quality for all the jobs it does in the body.” — Karen Vago
Another benefit of having sufficient minerals is that toxic metals like lead, mercury, cadmium and aluminum will be less likely to harm you. When you are deficient in minerals, the toxic ones can take their place and damage your health.
According to Karen there are different ways to remineralize your water. But the easiest and most cost-effective by far is to make your own saturated solution with unrefined salt—called a ‘sole’. And luckily, it’s very simple.
How to prepare your own ‘sole’
Fill a 500 ml jar for about 20% with chunks of Himalayan salt or Celtic sea salt. I prefer Himalayan salt—also for cooking and bathing. But Celtic sea salt contains iodine so it may be good to switch it up.
Let the water and salt sit for 24 hours. Shake a few times.
After 24 hours there needs to be a bit of salt left at the bottom of the jar so you know the water is saturated. (If there’s no salt at the bottom, add more and wait another day.)
Once the water is saturated: take 1 teaspoon of salt water and add it to a glass of water. Don’t shake the jar, take clear water from the top.
I drink it in one go without tasting it. If that’s too much for you, you can spread the teaspoon of salt water over multiple glasses of water.
I started with ½ teaspoon of saltwater for the first few days and built it up to a full teaspoon, simply because that felt right—and I’ve learned to listen to my body.
I began this new procedure a week ago and it feels really good! Like my body is holding more charge somehow, as weird as that may sound. That’s what inspired me to write this article. 😉
Putting all water tips together
Let’s sum it all up. Here’s what I recommend for maximum hydration. Because it’s not just about the quantity of water you drink—but the quality of it as well! So your body can absorb it optimally.
Your water checklist
- Keep the hydration basics in mind (how much water, when to drink it etc.)
- Make sure the water is clean, e.g. by filtering it.
- Bring the water back to life—for example with the Analemma wand.
- Add missing minerals with your ‘sole’.
- Drink and prosper!
If you have any additional water tips, I’d love to hear about it!
PS In case you’re wondering when to drink the glass of water with the ‘sole’, Karen recommends you start with that as your first glass of the day. I personally prefer to keep it for my third glass.
This is my personal water strategy in the morning:
- Start the day with a glass of warm water to clean your kidneys.
- Then a glass of warm water with lemon and honey to cleanse your bowels.
- Later in the morning (at least 1 hour after breakfast) a glass of water with a teaspoon of salt solution for the ultimate hydration and minerals.
- I filter all water and make it coherent with the Analemma wand.
