Burnout is one of the things we’re often convinced won’t happen to us. That’s what I thought too, right up until the moment the doctor told me otherwise…
Reports released yesterday by the Dutch bureau for statistics CBS and TNO show that 1 in 7 employees is coping with burnout complaints. Globally that number is even 1 in 4 according to McKinsey Health Institute.
The problem is we can’t count on ourselves to catch those symptoms early.
If your to-do list feels endless or you’re feeling detached from your work, you might want to check other signs of burnout as well:
- (Emotional) overwhelm
- Trouble concentrating
- Headaches
- Difficulty sleeping
- Mind fog
- Upset stomach
- Waking up exhausted
When you recognize more than one of these symptoms, you should be careful. You might be one of those four people heading for burnout! (Please note these are just some of the burnout symptoms!)
