See with your heart, not your eyes!

November 17, 2016

There is a lot going on in the world. Plenty of reasons for fears to arise, cause for worry and panic—or so it seems.

We tend to look at the physical world in order to evaluate how successful we are. Not just the world at large but especially you and your own goals. Are you on track? Did you accomplish what you desired for this year? Where can you still find lack, or absence of something you want or need?

And in order to find the answer we list things, we look at what’s tangible:

Did I reach my income goal? To answer you check your bank-statement or revenue report.

Am I living my dream life? To get clear you look at your relationship, or lack thereof. You compare the work you’re doing to what you truly desire, and then you conclude: Yes or No.

And I get it, I do it too. We’re all human but I also know this is not the best way to evaluate and conclude where you’re at.

“You forget that the material world is not the primary reality and start to look at outer conditions as a way to orient yourself instead of turning within to get where you’re at.”—Colette Baron-Reid

It’s what we all need. In order to get where you want to go you can’t look at the physical world to conclude how far you’ve come along.

The material world is merely a reflection of yesterday’s thoughts and (limiting) beliefs. Your actions are shaped by these thoughts and beliefs and that’s why they create your world, and the way you view your world.

The fact that something is not a part of your reality today doesn’t mean it can’t be there tomorrow. A manifestation can look very far away but it could be happening the next minute. You just don’t know if it’s around the corner simply because your eyes can’t see around the bend.

The problem is: when we don’t see tangible evidence that something is going to happen we succumb to fear and worry we’re doing something wrong. So you may conclude falsely that you’re in the wrong place or that what you do isn’t working.

To get truly clear on where you are in the journey of life you need to start looking through your heart, not your eyes…

“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”—Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

This means you need to get out of your head and into your heart. Get in touch with your body and what you feel. Get grounded. Do whatever you need to stop the merry-go-round of thoughts in your head.

I don’t care that you are strategic or have a brilliant mind; it’s not what will help you now. You can’t think your way out here. It only gets in the way. I know, I’ve been there. And the mind is so brilliant it can even make it seem logical.

So tell your mind ‘no’ and close your eyes—it will help you see with your heart. So you can be open to seeing the more subtle confirmations and nudges: the less tangible ‘proof’.

Slow down, take a walk, meditate, do yoga or breathing exercises, sit in the sun. Do whatever it takes for you to move from your mind to your heart.

And then open your inner eye: now what do you see?

The key is to postpone judgment. Allow yourself to be surprised, the answer is probably not what you think…

Here’s to living a fulfilled and soulful life!
