Are you in life's waiting room?

May 20, 2016

This is NOT for everyone.

This is not for you if you want to be handed the answers on a silver platter.
This is not for you if you don’t want to get your feet wet.
This is not for you if you are looking for a silver bullet.
This is not for you if you feel like whining and the whole world needs to know how bad things are for you.

If you’re like me then there have been times when:

but you didn’t!

And at the end of the day you are so happy that you didn’t give up and that you ploughed through and muddled on and that you can say, boy it’s been painful, and it’s been hard, and I don’t feel like doing it ever again, but OMG I am so glad I did it and I have been there!

I am so glad I opened the door wide enough for someone to come in and help me, because I was trying to do it alone. Because it has brought me where I am now. And I am so grateful to have been there and I know I have grown thanks to that painful journey.

I have been in life’s waiting room for longer than I can remember.

Yes, there have been times when I have felt fully alive and where I could feel deep in my bones that THIS WAS IT! And I have never been able to sustain that for long. I went back to where I came from, a little different, with new insights and new experiences, but not fully in the arena. I was in the waiting room.

I know there have been times when I thought to myself: “I’m just keeping myself busy”. I’m really good at going through the motions and be reasonably happy. I can motivate myself to go pretty deep, I have served clients and served them well. I have learned a lot, travelled places, but deep down I was still waiting for something to happen.

I guess I was waiting for life to happen. I thought I was not one of those people who were going to be deliriously happy someday when…..

But if I am totally honest I was working my ass off and thinking a lot of things would be better when I cross six figures with my business. I would enjoy life more when I have that new relationship, or when I become a mom. Not on a conscious level. And it’s not like I didn’t do my share of inner work or that I was completely miserable. But somehow I haven’t been ready for this realization:

I HAVE BEEN IN LIFE’S WAITING ROOM!!!

And I’m getting out! I am deciding to work less NOW, not when I make a certain income or am a mom. I’ve been waiting for that to happen for years now. Best enjoy this moment to the fullest. And I know this isn’t rocket science and you probably have heard it before. I know I have. But never has it had this impact and resonated this deep. So I want to ask you, if you are totally honest with yourself:

Are you in life’s waiting room?

Is there an area in your life where you are holding back or waiting for something to happen? Is there something you can give yourself permission to do NOW?

If so, I highly recommend that you do. How silly or insignificant it may seem. It will have a deeper impact than you’ll think. I promise.

So here’s to getting out of the waiting room and engaging in life fully every day. Enjoy!
